Introducing the Uchi Tent, where classic wall tent design merges with modern functionality to deliver a unique camping experience. Crafted from breathable Canvo™ fabric, this tent offers an inviting space that remains cool in summer and warm in winter. The large mesh windows ensure optimal ventilation, adapting to diverse weather conditions. The near-vertical walls enhance the feeling of spaciousness within, making every moment inside the tent a comfortable one. Plus, expand your living space seamlessly with the attachable Base Camp Awning, sold separately. (Tan available Autumn 2025).
Canvo™ is a mix of cotton and polyester. Compared to polyester, Canvo™ provides a superior camping experience. The material breathes so the tent does not become humid, it’s quieter in the wind, and it’s more durable. Canvo™ is commonly used for tents in Europe and Japan. It is used less commonly in North America due to the cost. In an effort to introduce Canvo™ tents to the North American market, DOD is offering our line of Canvo™ tents at prices competitive to polyester tents. You can learn more about Canvo™ tents here.

Polycotton tents provide a more comfortable camping experience. They breathe to release humidity and insulate to keep in warmth. Polycotton tents are also durable, have a more natural hand feel, and are quiet in the wind. DOD uses polycotton that is 60-70% polyester, 30-40% cotton.
As a mix of synthetic and natural fiber - polycotton possesses the best characteristics of both. Synthetic tents don’t breathe, so they become humid when occupied overnight. And synthetic fabrics tear and melt more easily than natural fabrics. Synthetics have almost no ability to hold warmth. At the other end of the spectrum, all-cotton tents are comfortable, durable, and hold warmth but they are heavy and bulky. They also require treatment to achieve waterproofness. Polycotton tents are comfortable, durable, waterproof, and hold warmth without being heavy and bulky.
Polycotton tarps offer a more comfortable camping experience. They breathe to allow air circulation and are durable, have a more natural hand feel, and are quiet in the wind. DOD uses polycotton composed of 60-70% polyester and 30-40% cotton.
As a blend of synthetic and natural fibers, polycotton combines the best characteristics of both materials. Synthetic fabrics are prone to tearing and melting more easily than natural ones. On the other hand, all-cotton tarps, while durable and quiet, are heavy, bulky, and require regular treatment to maintain waterproofness. Polycotton tarps provide comfort, durability, waterproof qualities, and quietness without the bulkiness or heaviness.
I’ve had this tent out on two trips, both with lots of wind and rain. This is my first polycotton tent and I was a little worried about how it would hold up, but it did great, stayed dry and held up to 40+ mph wind gusts. Loved that there was less condensation build up, lots of ventilation, and tons of usable space. The quality is excellent, I got this tent and tarp with the Tsuku as well. I haven’t taken that tent out yet, but if the quality is similar I know I’ll be really happy with it too.
After some research I decided on this tent over the copper canyon tents. ⛺️
Pros:
the tent color scheme is much more natural.
the area is slightly larger then most tents.
ease of setup.
lightweight considering material and size.
high quality materials.
design looks nice and works well with plenty of airflow if wanted and bug netting.
Cons:
wish it was even bigger somehow? the sides being a couple feet higher would make it more room.
This combination is great! I can’t wait to use it more. The tent is a little more compact than some family tents and should fit on just about all standard state park style tent pads. While you may lose a small amount of tent space you gain that back with huge livable space by adding on the base camp awning. Using the tent and awning independently of desired is just another bonus. Love the fabric, love how the products have carrying bags with compression straps. Overall very impressed. DOD has some fun, well thought out products.
I was impressed by the great quality. Even the stakes are good quality. I got this with the Tsuku base tent. Easy to set up. Very happy with the purchase.
Good construction, easy to setup, looks great and keeps the rain out.
