I bought this tent for camping and hunting in Montana. I wanted something simple and knew I needed something substantial. This little tent fits the bill!
The Musha 1Pole is one of the best tents I have been in. This tent is sturdy as all get out.
It holds up against the wind very, very well. My last trip, I was on the sagebrush steppe, out in the open. Wind was blowing 25 - 40 mph. Once I secured all the tie downs, this tent would not budge!
You get plenty of room for storage/shelter. I fit all of my stuff plus myself with plenty of room to spare. You could easily fit two people inside if need be, though the sleeping net isn’t really designed for that.
The canvas is thick and well waterproofed. It insulates well, gives you privacy, and water just beads right off. The vents don’t let water it and the skirts lay down heavy enough to prevent wind from blowing into the tent.
The internal sleeping net is great. It uses three zippers the converge into one point, close enough to prevent bugs from getting in. It gives you a good surface to lay a bedroll while getting all the benefits of a floorless tent.
Setup doesn’t take very long, but it is a bit of a process. You will need time to do it.
The only real negative about this tent is the weight. At 12 pounds, you are not taking this an a backpacking trip. This is best for car camping or walking in short distances to set up camp. However, that is the cost of having a thick, waterproofed canvas that does so many other things well.
My only critiques of the design are that the sleeping net could use more attachment points to prevent sagging and that the vent pillars could be stiffer to keep up with heavy conditions.
Great tent at a good buy! It gave me a lot of respect for DOD products.
