The Chimaki Tent is designed for those who like a bit of style in camp. If Ray and Charles Eames went camping, this would be their tent. The Chimaki is a two walled tent, a thick Canvo™ outer tent protects and thinner Canvo™ inner tent with a large mesh or Canvo™ door. The tent sleep two. It’s enough to standup straight inside. Unlike other one pole tent designs, the pole is on the outside of the tent so it doesn’t get in the way. The Chimaki can be used alone or as a component in the stunning Chimaki Village three room shelter.
Canvo™ is a mix of cotton and polyester. Compared to polyester, Canvo™ provides a superior camping experience. The material breathes so the tent does not become humid, it’s quieter in the wind, and it’s more durable. Canvo™ is commonly used for tents in Europe and Japan. It is used less commonly in North America due to the cost. In an effort to introduce Canvo™ tents to the North American market, DOD is offering our line of Canvo™ tents at prices competitive to polyester tents. You can learn more about Canvo™ tents here.

I use this under the 6x6 and it's so great. I've also used it with just my tarp. Love it!
I live in Arizona so i always need a tarp. This hangs on mine and it's pretty awespme
I love how it's mostly for hanging on a tarp. It feels differnt having a living room on top of your tent.
As someone who enjoys camping with friends, I bought 3 of these and use it with a tarp and just invite people. Really love the ide.
I loved how unique the setup looked so I got my brother and my cousin who I always camp with to buy these tents too. We use a DOD tarp between us and it's awesome! People at camp sites look at us JEALOUS.

I wanted a larger tent that I could comfortably stand up in at 6’-2”. After doing a ton of research, I decided to purchase this tent. It’s a great size for my use. The build quality is 10/10. It’s takes me about 15 minutes to set it up and take it down. One thing that has been awesome, is the material of the tent isn’t as loud when there’s a breeze. Also, it packs down to a relatively small size. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a larger tent.
I've recently gotten into camping again after many years of not doing it, and I am revamping my gear. I did a lot of research on some of the best camp tables, and this kept popping up and IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY!
It takes some practice to get used to setting it up, but once you catch on it's easier each time. I obviously had to test it out as soon as I got it, so took it out to our little uncovered fire area and it handled direct heat like a champ. I've cooked with it on an open flame three times now and it's awesome. We've also used it as just a regular camp table and it can handle quite a bit of stuff.
Right out of the box, be prepared to have to tighten the little bolts on the inside of the wooden exterior handles. I also HIGHLY RECOMMEND getting the carrying bag with it.
Love this for car camping, Great for keeping cooking gear and dry food.
This is my second review of the large desert tent. We took it during a summer day on the Guadalupe river in Texas. I was impressed by the function ability and just overall sadness of the structure. It’s a great tent for a small family. it’s easy to set up and most of all. It was a place. I will come back to you on a regular basis. This tent is outstanding.
This is an amazing little firepit for the cost, weight, and size. Buy it without hesitation.
I haven’t used the grates for grilling yet but it's great for browning the top of cast iron pizza while camping. I start the pizza on the Coleman stove in a cast iron griddle pan then finish it off under the Grill of Secrets.
I’ve built half a dozen fires so far and the mesh screen is holding up just fine. No holes or wear. No evidence of rusting anywhere. I store a thin pair of gardening gloves in the storage bag as the stainless turns black and is dirty to handle.
If I were to provide any feedback to DoD for improvement, it would be very minor. Perhaps there’s an opportunity for accessory products or other sizes. I do wish the storage bag was a bit larger and more robust, perhaps with a washable/wipable liner. I’d like to be able to store the fireproof mat, gloves, and accessories (e.g. grill grate lifter, a metal garden trowel I use for ashes) alongside the fire pit and be able to keep things clean-ish and keep residual soot/ash contained. I do realize there is a balance between space/weight.
Also, commercially available firewood in the US is a bit longer than the space between the wavy side support members. A fire pit a few inches larger would be more convenient in the US. I request shorter, fatter pieces of wood from my local supplier and it works flawlessly.
The fire pit is sturdy enough provided you do not drag the burning firewood around on the mesh. I bought a pair of stainless steel fire tongs for managing the fire to prevent accidentally collapsing the fire pit. The large scissor-like tongs make it easy to grab, lift, and reposition wood without dragging it around.
I’m very happy with this product and look forward to many warm nights of marshmallows and pizza ahead.
